Last updated: August 22, 2026

Calculate the return on a single influencer campaign, or add multiple influencers to see combined cost, revenue, and ROI across an entire campaign.

This tool gives a general educational estimate. Attributing revenue accurately to influencer campaigns can be complex — use tracked links, promo codes, or platform analytics for more reliable revenue figures.

The basic ROI formula

ROI (%) = ((Revenue - Total Cost) / Total Cost) × 100

A positive ROI means the campaign generated more revenue than it cost. A 100% ROI means you doubled your investment; 0% means you exactly broke even.

Engagement-based metrics

Engagement Rate = (Total Engagements / Followers) × 100
Cost Per Engagement = Total Cost / Total Engagements

When direct revenue is hard to track, engagement metrics offer a useful secondary measure of how effectively an influencer's audience responded to the content.

Typical engagement rate benchmarks by follower tier

TierFollowersTypical engagement rate
NanoUnder 10KOften highest, 5%+
Micro10K - 100KModerate to high, 2-5%
Macro100K - 1MLower, 1-3%
Mega1M+Often lowest, under 2%

Smaller accounts often have higher engagement rates because their audience tends to be more tightly connected, while larger accounts trade some engagement depth for broader reach.

Frequently asked questions
How do I accurately track revenue from an influencer campaign?+
Unique discount codes, dedicated tracking links (UTM parameters), or platform-specific affiliate tracking are the most reliable ways to attribute sales specifically to an influencer, rather than estimating from overall sales lift.
Is a negative ROI always a failed campaign?+
Not necessarily, especially for brand awareness campaigns where the goal isn't immediate direct sales. Consider engagement, reach, and long-term brand lift alongside direct revenue ROI.
Should I work with fewer big influencers or many small ones?+
It depends on your goals and budget. Many smaller (micro/nano) influencers often deliver higher combined engagement and more authentic-feeling content at a lower total cost than one large influencer, but require more relationship management.
What counts as a "cost" beyond the influencer fee?+
Free products sent to the influencer, agency or platform fees for finding and managing influencers, and any paid boosting of the influencer's content should all be included for an accurate total cost.
How many engagements should I expect for my budget?+
This varies enormously by platform, niche, and influencer tier. Comparing quoted follower count against typical engagement rate benchmarks for that tier gives a rough sanity check before committing to a fee.
